New to Meditation

Meditation is the practice of directing and focusing your mind. Meditation is about cultivating present moment awareness and freeing the mind from 'thought tethers'.

Meditation is a practice and your efforts are cumulative. You won't achieve the end result in one sitting however, every sitting brings profound benefits to the meditator.

There are many different types of meditation. Some of the most popular are concentration, mindfulness, mantra, breathing (also called pranayama) and many more.

You do not have to believe in any certain religion to meditate and nearly every religion has some form of meditation. Meditation is something anyone at any age can do. The only thing necessary to start is simply the willingness.

The benefits gained from a meditation practice are numerous and science is discovering new and additional benefits regularly. Some of the benefits include: better stress management, increased self-awareness, reduced anxiety, improved sleep, improved emotional well-being, lower blood pressure, improved pain management, improved memory, improved focus and attention, increased peace, calm and compassion.
